Fire Alarm Maintenance

Minder Fitter and VanAn essential part of your Fire Protection Strategy, and just as your ‘Risk Assessment', Fire Alarm Maintenance Contracts need to be in written form and updated regularly (at least annually) then your fire alarm needs to be checked periodically by a ‘competent’ person to ensure that its integrity is safeguarded and it is able to sound an alarm if called upon. This process is not just liaising with our Fire Experts you should also remember that you also need to:

Test the system regularly.
Have a written evacuation plan, communicate it to employees & practice.
Have trained ‘Fire Wardens’ to help others where necessary.
Report any faults to your ‘fire emergency systems’ immediately and log the fact.

The object of all these procedures is to safeguard ‘life’ and prevent injury to persons on or within the premises for which you are responsible for, and in order to achieve this they need to be alerted as soon as possible to an emergency situation and be provided with a means to escape.

The other part to these responsibilities which so far have not been mentioned are your ‘Insurers’, they are important to your business as they will be expected to make good losses arising from a ‘Fire situation’. They will of course judge any claim made on the basis of a proper and working system being in place, and that it was working correctly at the time. They will know the legislation and standards relating to Fire systems and failure to comply may weaken your right to claim.

PDAWithout maintenance, even the most effective fire system or equipment will deteriorate. To keep it working as effectively as when it was installed, it should be regularly maintained by a qualified experienced engineer. In businesses and the public sector, it is in fact a legal requirement for fire systems, extinguisher and emergency lighting to be maintained in good working order and regularly tested.

At Minder all our installations can be backed up by a maintenance package. So not only will your fire or security systems be kept in good working order, but you will have the peace of mind that all current health and safety standards will be met and that you are complying with laws to regularly review your fire risk assessment. As a contract customer, you are also guaranteed a response to an emergency call within 8 hours. If you have an issue with your fire or security systems, our engineers, can be with you within a few hours of your call. And because our engineers are provided with hand held computers (PDAs), they are sent a list of the equipment fitted and its location on your premises, it also supplies details of the last three visits to your system, therefore, if an engineer has never visited your premises before, they know as much about your system and its recent history as possible. During the engineers visit to site, he records time spent, parts used, comments on the work he’s carried out and a customer signature electronically on his PDA.

On completion ofthe visit you will automatically be sent a copy of the signed job sheet by E-mail, fax or post to an address of your choice. You can be confident that all our work was completed quickly and professionally.

So get in touch to discuss your systems maintenance requirements and we will help you decide on the best package for you. We can even work with you to provide a bespoke maintenance solution if you have specific service levels which need to be met.
